Life Priorities 1

Někdy je méně více--Sometimes less is more. This Czech phrase sums up a strong, recurring theme in my life and work. Since returning to Czech this term, I have been on a quest to cut distractions out of my work and personal life. I am trying to focus on those most important things in life and ministry. I want to do a few things well rather than a lot of things in a mediocre way. By nature, I am a specialist so my attempt at re-focusing is really a "return" to being true to myself. The question of why a specialist would become unfocused is material that could fill a dozen blog entries. I will likely tackle that later.

So, what exactly am I trying to focus on, you ask? Good question! I am a work in progress, thanks to God, but there are several areas that give me a compass for making decisions on what to do. The general areas that I have specific goals for 2011-2012 are the following:

Spiritual Health

Physical Health

Financial Health

Partnership Building

Professional Development

Prague City Team Ministry

Roma Ministry

Church Planting Ministry

Holistic Ministry

For each of these goal areas, I have an overarching objective and a number of concrete goals or projects. The ministry goal areas that I will devote the most time to in 2011-2012 are the following:

I won't bore you right now with further details of concrete goals/projects under each of these areas or about how they fit into the ReachGlobal grid of Key Result Areas. But I will flesh them out in another post if I get positive feedback. (Most feedback from this blog comes in the form of email. Keep them coming! I love the interaction.)
