Church Based Training Symposium-Hungary

ReachGlobal invited church leaders from Hungary, Romania, Slovakia, Italy, and the Czech Republic to meet and discuss the question of how we raise servant-leaders in our local churches. Small group interaction, case studies, and a set of principles that applied in any culture made the Symposium extremely practical.

The Vlašim church elders, their spouses, and an intern were able to process the principles and case studies together. This gave us great confidence and motivation to do this in our church. Since three of us are Club Rachel leaders, we also thought about these principles in the context of ministry with the Roma. We also connected with leaders who are working among the Roma in Slovakia and Hungary.

Quick Numbers from the Symposium

Number of attendees from the Vlašim church plant: 8

Number of Club Rachel leaders there: 3

Number of people interested in Roma ministry there: 7

Number of words I translated from English to Czech during the conference: 1 billion (at least it felt that way)

Number of Hungarian forints one dollar will buy: 221

Number of streets in Budapest named Bartok Bela street: 8 (according to a GPS computer)

Number of these streets we saw while trying to find the ministry center: only 2
